Go Deeper into Fairytale Forest Stories
A fairytale forest becomes much more interesting when its magic affects the people who enter it. Once you have chosen a story idea, think about why the forest behaves as it does, what rules govern it and how crossing its boundary might change your character.
◆ Give the forest its own rules. Perhaps travellers must never leave the path, nobody may enter after sunset or taking anything from the woods means something must be left behind.
◆ Make the magic part of its history. An enchanted forest might have grown from an ancient curse, been created to protect a forgotten kingdom or developed around magic buried beneath its roots.
